Doran takes 3rd in the E3 road race and 7th in the crit to win the Safeway Cup for best combined finish!

In the road race, Doran timetrials in for a solo 3rd place finish behind a two-man breakaway. In the crit, he blocks for William in a failed bid for a prime then takes a nice placing in the 70-rider field sprint.

My favorite! A business park with nary a discernible turn...and it was a 'win-and-out' to boot. Those wacky promoters decided to mix it up this crazy Saturday in Livermore! The way this goes, is that the winner of the race wins the race at three laps to go and pulls out. Of course, second place wins with two laps to go, and so on. Our fearless leader tried to bridge to the three leaders right as the sprint was on, and HE ALMOST MADE IT, but in a cruel twist of fate the peloton reeled Dylan back in on the last lap along with that poor fellow, Ron Reed, who had spent the better part of the race trying to get a podium finish only to be denied the spoils.

This race was pretty active from the beginning, but as usual you could find me hiding and drinking in the back for the majority of the race. I snuck up towards the front with about four to go and followed Jeff Poulsen (Safeway) in for a 10th place. Again a real surprise, since I haven't really found my sprint yet, but it feels good to be sneaking into the top ten this early in the year with the little fitness I have cobbled together.
