This was my second race of 2005, and it was a fun, but tricky eight-turn course with one wicked long finish leg. I was feeling pretty terrible the week leading up to the race so I really wasn't sure what to expect. I was just hoping to limp in with the field for a pack finish. The race was steady, but not nearly as fast I was anticipating. When it came down to two laps to go, and I rolled by Dylan, his expression made it pretty clear that I was the last one of his teammates he thought would be rolling up next to him.
I tried my best to pilot Dylan safely through all of the turns after the bell, but in the last couple of turns we were separated in a narrow chicane. I tried to follow the Lombardi Sports lead out in as best as I could and ended up 9th. It was cool to be close enough to the Lombardi lead out to hear Dean barking orders at his guy: Patience! Patience! Not yet! Now! Go! Go! How Dean can talk while we are going so fast I don't know...I need to work on that.
Dylan did one of his 'far-out'/ 'out-of-control' sprints to roll up along side me in 10th. Pretty crazy finish!
