Townie 21, Townie
21 Women's ($$$):
Do you like the idea of riding around
town and on bike paths, but aren’t real excited about sitting
way up on a bike seat with only your tip-toes touching the ground
when you stop? The unique design of the Townie allows you the
freedom of having your feet flat on the ground when you stop,
without having to lean over or step forward off the seat. We
have sold an awful lot of these bikes are gotten nothing but
rave reviews from people who otherwise were just not comfortable
riding a bike. This model offers you 21-speeds so you always
have the right gear no matter what Bay Area hill is thrown your
way, an aluminum frame to help keep the weight down, and a suspension
fork to smooth out bumps in the road. Come on down to Solano
Avenue Cyclery and get out of your car and go riding on the
bike you’ve been dreaming about. |

Townie 7, Townie
7 Women's ($$$$):
The Townie 7 builds off the same
principles as the Townie 21, but with just 7 speeds for those
that will tackle fewer hills. This bike also adds fenders, a
chain guard, a quiet-running 7-speed internal shifting system,
and a backpedal (“coaster”) brake. |

Specialized
Sirrus Comp ($$$$$):
Lance Armstrong is a pretty fast
dude. You wouldn't mind watching the miles fly by with ease,
but leaning way over on "Drop Bars" (low-slung road bike handlebars
like the Tour de France bikes have) isn't your cup of tea. Whether
your plan is to shave time off the commute to work, ride in
a Century or Benefit Ride, or just get some exercise and ride
with your friends, the Sirrus Comp might very well be what you
are hankerin' for. The Sirrus Comp offers the weight savings
and technological advancements found on road bikes like Lance's,
but matches it up with the comfortable upright riding position
of a mountain bike, all for around $800. High tech, ultra-lightweight
and shock-absorbing carbon fiber is used in the seat post and
fork to smooth out your ride without the added weight of suspension
systems. Other features include powerful V-brakes, a high-end
27-speed Shimano Rapid Fire shifting system, an 8-way adjustable
height stem, lightweight but pot-hole tough double-wall aluminum
rims, and Armadillo flat-resistant tires to help assure you
will get where your going on time. If you're after a fast, comfortable
and trouble-free ride, this bike should be at the top of your
list. |

|
Specialized
Sirrus ($$$$): Let’s
say that you’re totally into the idea of the Sirrus Comp, but
your budget for a commute bike is about $500. “FEAR NOT!” the
friendly Solano Cyclery staff tells you, “There is hope!” The
base model Sirrus is just a lower-tech version of the Comp model.
The carbon parts are replaced by a suspension seat post, and
a chromoly fork, All Condition tires take the place of the Armadillo
tires and you get bumped down a level to an “EZ-Fire” Shimano
shifter system, but the bike remains a quick, light commute
machine. |

Giant
Sedona ST, Giant
Sedona ST Women's ($):
Just getting into cycling? Not sure
you're gonna stick with it and worried about dropping too much
dough on a bike that'll sit in the garage? Well, the Giant Sedona
ST is here to cancel out those worries. Built on a mountain
bike platform means not only great stability on the street,
but also gives you the freedom to go off into the dirt if you
so desire. You could very well have such a good time aboard
this bike that you take up cycling as a passionate hobby. With
21-speeds (think of it as a 7-speed with a "Drive", Overdrive",
and "Low") you will be able to tackle most any hill that leaps
out at you. Available as both a standard and “Step-Through”
(Ladies) version. |

Giant
Cypress ST, Giant
Cypress ST Women's ($):
Think the Sedona ST sounds pretty
dandy, but you’d rather stick to the street and trade the off-road
ability for a faster ride? My friend, the Cypress ST is just
what the Doctor ordered. Same price, parts and styling as the
Sedona ST, but with a taller diameter (700c) wheel and narrower
tires. |

Giant
Cypress, Giant
Cypress Women's ($$):
For those looking for a comfort
city bike that allows a clear view of traffic, much like the
Cypress ST, but want a lighter weight, rust-proof aluminum frame,
the comfort of front suspension, and better quality shifting,
we offer the Giant Cypress at around $300. This comfy city bike
also comes equipped with a height- and reach-adjustable handlebar
stem, a suspension seat post, and a 21-speed drivetrain with
a super-low gear to tame even the meanest of hills. This bike
was made for getting around any city without the hassles of
fighting traffic, finding parking, or feeding meters. Not to
mention that you can install a rear rack for shopping or a baby
seat, or add a child trailer and have an instant tandem for
taking junior to school or for family outings. |

|
Giant
Sedona, Giant
Sedona Women's ($$):
The Sedona is almost identical to
the Cypress with the exception of the Sedona’s wider and smaller
diameter (26”) tires. Better dirt capabilities and a slightly
smoother, steadier ride are about all that sets this bike apart
from the Cypress. The price remains the same, as do all the
comfort features like tall handlebars, a comfy seat, and a suspension
fork and seat post to make those Berkeley streets seem much
smoother than they really are. |

Specialized
Crossroads Sport, Crossroads
Sport Women's ($$):
If you want a no-expense-spared
comfort bike, without the no-expense-spared part, you have found
the right ride. Specialized's Crossroads Sport gives you an
aluminum frame, 24-speed drivetrain, bump-absorbing suspension
fork and seat post, fast rolling 700c tires, and the cushiest
seat this side of a recliner. If city riding, casual outings,
and riding for exercise are on your cycling To-Do list, check
out the Crossroads at Solano Avenue Cyclery. |

Simple Single, Giant
Simple Single ($$):
Remember those cool old beach cruisers?
Curvy lines, stylish paint jobs, comfy as a sofa, and heavy
as a tank. Whoa! That last one isn't so cool! How about taking
all the good without the bad. Giant has done it! Now ask yourself,
how much would you expect this marvelous piece of machinery
to weigh? Fifty pounds? Forty pounds? "Oh, it has to weigh at
least 35 pounds," you think to yourself. NO! Amazingly, this
stylish bicycle weighs just 26 pounds! Wow! There's even ones
with multiple gears available for hill-climbing ease. |

Electra
Rallysport ($$):
WRC Rally racing is about as cool
as motor sports gets. Take a 300 horsepower 4WD car and put
it on a narrow dirt, gravel, or snow road lined with drunken
fans. Stir in fistfulls of BMX dirt jumps, and you have an very
fun looking way to spend an afternoon at a casual 100mph. We
here at Solano Ave Cyclery really like rally racing a lot, but
since we haven’t got the time, money, or location to set a 300HP
Subaru STI loose, we instead ride an Electra Rallysport cruiser
to the burrito shop for lunch. Not quite the same, I know, but
you can do cool feet-up coaster brake slides and almost feel
like Peter Solberg, minus the co-driver, roll cage, gold wheels,
4WD, 300HP… Okay fine, but it’s fun anyway! |

|
Electra
Hawaii 3-Speed ($$):
Are you looking for a slick bike
that’ll allow you to get around town in understated but eye-catching
style? Would you rather be on a beach in Hawaii than sitting
behind a computer screen? Do you want your kids to be envious
that YOU have a cooler bike than them? Okay, then we’d highly
suggest a Hawaii 3-Speed from your beach lovin’ pals at Solano
Ave Cyclery. Riding a Hawaii is almost as good as being there! |

|
Electra
Betty 3-Speed ($$$$):
If you dig Hot Rods, but don’t find
them to be the most practical, affordable or reliable transportation,
we can set you up with an Electra Betty 3-Speed for about half
as much as you’d spend having your chopped and channeled Ford
towed home from Hot August Nights after the 400 horsepower motor
melted the tranny. Around 400 smackaroos will put you in the
riders seat of this beauty, and it won’t piss off the neighbors
since it doesn’t vibrate their windows at idle or leave long
burnouts in front of their driveway. |

|
Electra
June ($$$$): Walk
the Line is a great flick about Johnny Cash’s turbulent life.
During “The Man in Black’s” wild days his soon-to-be-wife, June
Carter was often the calm to his storm. This bike reminds us
of her. Calming to look at (and pay for at under $300), beautiful,
and uncomplicated. If you’re after a smooth sailing ride with
style and simplicity, the June could be just the ticket. Or,
if you’re fresh out of Folsom Prison, then there are some Matte
Black Electra’s too. Johnny or June, we’ve got a bike for you
at Solano Ave Cyclery. |

|
Electra
Rat Rod Aluminum ($$$):
If you not only want classic styling,
but also modern technology, then the aluminum version of Electra’s
Rat Rod is what you need to roll around on. For around four-and-a-half
bills you can hit the road in style aboard this slick 3-speed.
A pair of large, gloss black shades should be included with
this bike, heck, maybe even a long beard… Okay, maybe just the
shades. |
